From managing the day-to-day money decisions to weighing long-term choices and forecasting cash flows, finance majors can contribute at the individual or corporate level, becoming a trusted advisor for individuals’ financial planning or weighing in on vital corporate financial functions.

As a finance major, you will learn to manage money and investments, which will prepare you for a career in the world of money and financial markets. If you enjoy working with numbers and wisely allocating money, along with helping people to manage one of their most important assets – this major is for you. A finance major gives you a blend between accounting and economics – balancing accounting reporting with economic principles and trends. Finance majors may go on to become treasurers, controllers, or chief financial officers, or may cross over to related disciplines such as accounting or economics.

Finance majors participate in the student Investment Club where they learn how to research and analyze stock portfolios in order to buy and sell stock to raise money for student scholarships.
