This week, MNU expressed appreciation to local legislators who represent the districts, including MNU and Johnson County. Guests for the luncheon included Senator Dinah Sikes, Representative Robyn Essex, Representative Allison Houghland, and Representative Nikki McDonald.

MNU is part of a burgeoning national effort to interest, educate, and retain schoolteachers through an apprenticeship program for aspiring teachers. Now, para educators in participating districts can stay in their jobs while earning a bachelor’s degree and teaching license online.

When Saralyn Schmidt and Allen Brown first stepped on the new Mid-America Nazarene College campus in 1968, neither dreamed they would meet, marry, enjoy successful careers, and become some of the university’s strongest supporters. It wasn’t their plan, but as it turns out, it was all in God’s plan. Allen and Saralyn Brown, class of 1972, are this year’s Lifetime Achievement honorees. The award will be presented at President’s Honors, the university’s premiere scholarship fundraising event, April 12.

The national theater program involves 18,000 students annually from colleges and universities nationwide
